The winner of the South Dakota Sprint Car Nationals will claim $10,000 this month at Park Jefferson Speedway.
The April 27-28 event now serves as the season opener for the Property Solutions of America Midwest Sprint Touring Series. The previously scheduled April 14 event was cancelled due to unseasonably cold weather. The two-day show will also host the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprint Series presented by Malvern Bank.
The Siouxland speed plant hosted three events in 2017 with the two series teaming up for action, with a different winner taking the trophy at each event. Thomas Kennedy went to Park Jefferson’s victory lane in April. Cody Ledger scored a last lap pass for the victory in July while Gregg Bakker took top honors at September’s Iron Cup. For each driver, it was his first career MSTS360 sanctioned victory at Park Jefferson. Jack Dover has the most career MSTS360 wins at the speedway with four.
The South Dakota Sprint Car Nationals places an emphasis on passing cars. The Friday night event will consist of two rounds of qualifying heat races. The first round of heat races will be lined up based on a random draw by each driver. The second round of heats will be lined up based on an inversion from the opening round.
Saturday’s championship event will find the top 16 point earners from the first night locked into the championship feature. The remaining eight positions in the feature will be earned through a pair of consolation features. The championship event pays $10,000 to the winner and $700 to simply start.
Admission for adults is $15 Friday and $20 Saturday. A $30 two-day grandstand pass is also available.
