Friday and Saturday could not have been more opposite for Jody Rosenbiom Racing. JRR joined the MSTS 360 Sprints at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa on Friday, and again at Wagner Speedway in Wagner, South Dakota on Saturday.
Rapid Speedway drew 22 360 Sprint Cars for their season opening event. JRR brought the Frontier Bank, Rosy's Raceland, Todd's Beer Cave entry from 2 miles down Highway 9, to join the action. Rosenboom finished the heat in 3rd place to make the draw. With the help of his son, Regan, Rosenboom drew the #1 pill to start on the pole of the feature. That's where the team's luck ran out. Four laps into the A feature, while leading, Rosenboom wheel hopped a lap car coming out of turn 4, and tumbled down the front stretch. The crew thought they could get the car fixed in time to get back in the field, but the effort, and help from Ryan Bickett's crew, was for naught, as the feature continued before repairs could be made. Rosenboom was officially scored in 17th.
After finding that the frame was bent on Friday night's car, the team pulled out the backup for Saturday's trip to Wagner Speedway. A 3rd place finish in the first heat scored enough passing points to make the redraw. Rosenboom's luck of the draw continued as he pulled the 2 pill to start on the front row of the feature. This time around the #14 Maxim Chassis machine took off with the lead, not surrendering until the #21 machine of Thomas Kennedy made his way by. Rosenboom worked through lapped traffic flawlessly, holding back Friday night's winner Lee Grosz, MSTS's all time winningest driver Jack Dover, and pole sitter Gregg Bakker to finish second.
Of his polarizing weekend, Jody Rosenboom said, "It was tough to swallow my mistake on Friday night, especially knowing the car was so fast and I made a mistake. We have the confidence in our program to pull the back up out and run strong, so I'm glad I was able to make it up to my guys by finishing the weekend strong."
